They make all-natural soap in the shape of a grenade, beard care, and other products for freedom loving patriots of the world. The following is what I was curious to know, and what Chris was graciously willing to share with me and our readers.
"There was no one in the space when I started this venture. I remember walking into various shops throughout my life and always noticed the "fru-fru" soap that seemed like it catered to only women almost exclusively, and there was nothing that would appeal to the male demographic. This was important to me because they had nothing that would influence them to try an all-natural variant of soap, which is why I decided to shape it the way it is. Had to be visually appealing first, but then also be high enough quality to make them convert completely from store bought product."
"My attention to detail, and my never quit attitude. I realize a lot of businesses fail due to many factors out there, so I tried to prepare myself for potential risks before I jumped in. I know I will have missed a few things, but I take them in stride and realize they are just bumps in the road. I'm in this for the long haul. I want to support as many Veteran non-profits as I am able to along the way, and hope to one day employ a group of Veteran soap makers."
What support system did you have?
"I pulled from my individual experiences for the idea which is why it is heavily influenced by my time in the Marine Corps. I'd say my Marine brothers were the most supportive along the way. One other key element was my participation in the Entrepreneurial Boot Camp for Veterans (EBV) at the Jim Moran College of Business at Florida State University. My time there helped focus my efforts and make this idea a reality."
"First and foremost is being a husband and a father. Second is my time in the Marine Corps. This was a life altering experience for me because I was not on the "straight and narrow" before I went to boot camp. Third, being a business owner. Somehow I have made this work and been full time at it since March of 2018. This is my only gig, and being able to make ends meet and be my own boss is worth every success and failure because I absolutely love the responsibility that comes with this role."
"Time management. You think you are busy with a family, and working a full time job? There is absolutely no comparison. There are no days off as a business owner, which is both a blessing and a curse. I have reached my stride now, but the time spent making a business successful is a considerable amount, definitely a lot more demanding than working a 9-5 for someone else. I wouldn't change it for the world though."
"I am working on getting into larger retailers and scaling, which is taking the most of my time. I am at the point where I need to move out of the converted space in my house to a facility to do this, and start looking to hire some folks to help me make this showering Freedom."
"I would encourage anyone that hasn't tried showering with an all-natural soap to give it a shot, even if it isn't one that I make. It makes a huge difference, and it made a believer out of me. I won't use anything else anymore, ever. My soap is meant to be used from head to toe. You should ditch the bar, and grab a grenade sometime to feel the difference an all-natural showering experience will give you."
