Our Military Spouse Suppliers
Gifting With Valor’s goal when partnering with veteran and military spouse suppliers is to support military entrepreneurship. We value the hard work and determination it takes to own a business, and realize that our military community is bursting with entrepreneurship.
We’d like to take a second today and recognize some of our favorite military spouse owned businesses who supply products for Gifting With Valor gift boxes.
Meet Katina Ruest…
Katina is a military spouse and Co-founder of American Force Coffee. She was born and raised in Guatemala, and grew up with some of the world's best coffee. It wasn’t until she had left home for university in Savannah, GA when she realized that her amazing Guatemalan coffee was nowhere to be found. Fast forward a few years and Katina and her husband (American Force Coffee's other co-founder) decided to bring some Guatemalan coffee for their friends after every trip to Guate. Word got out and eventually they set up a formal business and started an online store offering coffee, subscriptions, and providing business to business services.
According to Katina, “There are so many veteran owned coffee companies today that claim to have the best coffee, but have no certifications and buy from third parties. We pull straight from my roots, have a direct relationship with our growers and farmers, and are certified specialty grade. Our business is also women/minority group owned and operated. We know our product, are involved in every step of the way and want people to learn and get involved with coffee and the process.”
This process is supported by Katina’s Guatemalan family, specifically her brother, their Director of Sourcing. Their goal is to promote outstanding quality coffee and empower people to learn about where and how their coffee is cultivated- and why that's important. “Good coffee is everywhere, great coffee can be too. We source single origin and specialty grade coffee and make it accessible to everyone!”
When asked what she wished she had known before starting her business, she spoke of American Force Coffee fans. “You think you'll be happy when you get a new customer, but happy is an understatement. The excitement and pride that comes with having a new customer choose you in a sea of businesses is unparalleled, and it fuels the drive to provide the best service possible- day in and day out. We've danced and jumped for joy in the same space where we have worried and argued. It is a whirlwind, but if it is a true passion like it is for us, you wouldn't have it any other way!”
Stay tuned to see American Force Coffee appear in a Gifting With Valor gift box. Until then, check them out, subscribe to get coffee, and become a raving fan at americanforcecoffee.com.
Meet Anne Brewer…
Anne is the Founder and Director of Sales of Potti Pocket LLC, maker of the Wallabox.
Anne was at an outdoor concert when her phone fell onto the floor of a port-a-john. Luckily, it didn't fall in! After the near miss, she noticed all the girls were carrying their phones in their back pockets and reasoned "we need somewhere to keep our phones handy while in the bathroom." Over the next few days she researched all types of locations and bathrooms and started drawing her Wallabox idea on a napkin. That was 2015.
Since then, Anne has experienced some major accomplishments. Her biggest accomplishment was bringing the Wallabox injection mold from China to the USA. Now, Wallabox is proudly made in Georgia, USA! Another success was selling 1800 Wallaboxes to a college supply distributor. Students are falling asleep with their phone charging under their pillow, which can cause a fire.
This is the main purpose of Wallabox - safety. The Wallabox also provides a sanitary alternative to holding your phone in the bathroom, kitchen, or anywhere you place it.
Here’s an exciting twist! Anne is currently looking for a buyer to purchase her business. She says, “I am actually interested in selling the business and letting someone else take it to the moon! It's such a blessing to be your own boss, and everyday something new pops up.”

Meet Melissa Green…
Melissa is the Founder and CEO of Southern, Sweet, and Sassy Coffee, a "Roast to Table" company that is passionate about connecting Military Families one cup at a time. Their beans are roasted when ordered and delivered directly to their customers’ doors.
Even though the brand has only been around since 2021, it has seen several accomplishments. They have been featured on CNBC twice. The Southern, Sweet, and Sassy Coffee logo and links were on HSN/QVC for a whole year due to being a "Veteran Owned Business." They are also certified as Military Spouse Owned & Service Disabled Veteran Owned, part of the NSVDB ePS Marketplace for AAFES, and have obtained the Google 4 Startups Sales Academy certification.
Melissa claims that their fast rise and successes are in large part due to networking, resources, and military organizations. They are part of and recommend joining amazing organizations such as Bunker Labs, LatinX, Breaking Barriers, IC/U Latinas, Luminary, The Rosie Network, and Veterans Growing America.
Now, she has another line, Rise Above Coffee, focused on the LGBTQ+ community, and she's going through a pivot which will strengthen her company even more. In the process, the brand will consolidate their two websites into one. They hope to showcase their efforts towards nonprofits and pivot towards more of a "coffee for a cause" model.
